Dawn Dupree – NEW WORKS

Venue: Prema Arts Centre, Uley GL11 5SS
Date: Monday 9th January 2012 – Saturday 18th February 2012
Time: Monday – Friday 10 am – 5 pm or by appointment at weekends

Dawn Dupree has been producing one-off textile artworks since 1990. Her work incorporates various print processes resulting in richly-coloured, multi-layered surfaces. She draws inspiration from landscape, cinema, abandoned objects, derelict spaces, relationships, emotion and autobiographical stories. Dawn exhibits widely and teaches regularly. Recent work explores ideas around home, transition and emotion, drawing inspiration from research of the egg and nest collection at The Natural history museum alongside experiences of navigation, seascapes and shifting weather patterns. The exhibition at Prema is
presented by Stroud International Textiles in partnership with Prema Art Centre.

Talks

TWO TALKS to compliment the Nora Fok exhibition in Gallery 1, Museum in the Park, Stratford Park Stroud GL5 4AF

‘SHAPE-SHIFTING’

an illustrated talk by Pamela Rawsley - Silversmith and Jeweller

Venue: Gallery 2, Museum in the Park, Stratford Park Stroud GL5 4AF
Date: Saturday 17 March
Time: 2pm
Tickets: £6.00 Friends of SIT £5.00
Tickets to both talks: £8.50

Living and working in mid Wales, Pamela’s visual inspiration is drawn from the surrounding mountainous environment and the very particular qualities of changing light. Detailed observations are made inspired by the  constant changes of colour, line density, patterns of vegetation interrupted by sheep paths, cloud shadows, water and always the fast changing weather and light that shape-shift the hills. As Pamela walks notes are made that lead on to drawings, monoprints and maquettes before she begins working in silver. Pamela’s award-winning vessels combine quiet forms with a sense of movement which is echoed by her new linear jewellery. She will be talking about her current work and the creative paths that she has undertaken.
