Advanced Pattern Making

Workshop fee: £25 (£20 Friends of SIT) N.B. There will be an additional charge for the material used in this class.

This is a one day workshop for those who have completed the Basic Pattern Cutting course, or for those who already have a little dressmaking experience. This class will cover fitting techniques, for example changing dart positions, adding or reducing fullness. It will also show you how to take your favourite clothes and make your own patterns from them.  You can also work on particular challenges you may face in working with a complicated fabric: for example matching large designs in the fabric, handling nap, or working with sheer materials.

Requirements:  Students must bring along a good, sharp pair of large scissors. Optionally you can bring a pattern and some fabric that you would like to make up into an item of clothing, but all other materials will be provided.
